English Internationals Tinaya Alexander and Lucy Shepherd were shocked and surprised to be drafted by the Washington Spirit. Now, the two are settling in and playing with established World Cup winners, some of the nation’s top young players, and a team that had just won its first championship.
The Washington Spirit and Sky Blue FC made a trade before the 2020 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft that gives Washington the No. 4 overall pick in the draft, along with the Nos. 13 and 17 overall selections, and a first-round draft pick in the 2021 NWSL College Draft.
