Defender Estelle Johnson re-signs with Sky Blue for the 2020 NWSL season
Defender Estelle Johnson re-signed with Sky Blue FC for the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.
Sky Blue acquired Johnson in 2019 from the Washington Spirit in exchange for the No. 29 overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft and goalkeeper DiDi Haracic and defender Caprice Dydasco.
Johnson entered the NWSL with the Western New York Flash as the seventh pick in the 2013 NWSL Supplemental Draft. In 2014, Johnson sat out the season in pursuit of opportunities outside of soccer. In 2015, Washington acquired Johnson from Western New York in exchange for defender Toni Pressley. With the Spirit, Johnson made 72 appearances and scored two goals, and was part of the 2016 team that reached the NWSL Championship.
Johnson reached her 100th NWSL game with Sky Blue on July 28, 2019, in a match against the Houston Dash.
