Historic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro will host the finals of the 2016 Rio Women’s and Men’s Olympic Football Tournaments next summer. FIFA has released the full match schedule for the women’s and men’s tournaments.
The first group game for the women will be played at Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro and will kick off on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.
Matches will be played at the following seven venues:
- Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte;
- Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia;
- Amazônia Arena in Manaus;
- Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro;
- Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro;
- Fonte Nova Arena in Salvador; and
- Itaquera Arena in São Paulo.
Schedule for the knockout rounds and medal matches:
- quarterfinals on Friday, August 12 at Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasilia, Fonte Nova Arena in Salvador, and Itaquera Arena in São Paulo;
- semifinals on Tuesday, August 16 at Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte and Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro;
- bronze medal match on Friday, August 19 at Itaquera Arena in São Paulo; and
- gold medal match on Friday, August 19 at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
