2017 Cyprus Cup: Day 1 – Wins for Scotland, Republic of Ireland, Korea DPR, and Wales

The 2017 Cyprus Cup is in full swing. Day 1 of the tournament saw Scotland, Republic of Ireland, Korea DPR, and Wales claim full three points for wins. For squad lists and schedule, check out our Cyprus Cup guide.

Results

Korea DPR 3–0 Italy

New Zealand 2–3 Scotland
Scotland’s Jane Ross opened in the 9th minute. The Football Fern’s Rosie White answered in the 21st minute. The score remain deadlocked until Erin Cuthbert put Scotland ahead in the 84th minute and Kim Little added insurance with another in the 87th minute. New Zealand pulled on back in the 90th minute courtesy of Amber Hearn but it was too late for New Zealand.

Czech Republic 0–2 Republic of Ireland
Stephanie Roche scored in the 25th minute and Áine O’ Gorman in the 87th minute.

Belgium 2–2 Switzerland
A back-and-forth affair. The Swiss struck first in the 26th minute via Caroline Abbé. Belgium answered in the 31st minute courtesy of Lien Mermans. Janice Cayman put Belgium ahead in the 78th minute. It was short lived, however. Selina Kuster equalized in the 88th minute and the score stayed knotted at two apiece.

Korea Republic 0–0 Austria

Hungary 0–2 Wales
Helen Ward put Wales on the board in the 35th minute; Charlie Estcourt added another in the 66th minute.
