The theme for the day’s matches was striking early or striking late.

Japan 1–2 Spain
Spain struck twice within two minutes as Silvia (15′) and Olga Perez (17′) put La Roja up early. Kumi Yokoyama got one back for Japan in the 83rd minute but Spain held on to take the full three points.

Netherlands 1–0 China PR
The game’s lone goal came in the 12th minute courtesy of Renate Jensen.

Norway 1–1 Iceland
A physical affair with both goal coming early in the match. Ada Hegerberg put Norway on the board first in the 5th minute. Gunnhildur Yrsa Jónsdóttir returned the favor in the 7th minute to bring Iceland level.

Portugal 0–1 Russia
Natalina Mashina scored the game-winner in the 87th minute to give the Russians the late victory.

Denmark 0–1 Canada
Who else but Christine Sinclair? Captain Canada made it dramatic by netting the game’s only goal in the 90th minute.

Australia 0–1 Sweden
Lotta Schelin’s 60th minute goal was enough for Sweden to grab maximum points from Australia.
