The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) released the full list of protected and unprotected players in anticipation of the 2015 Expansion Draft on Monday, November 2.
The Orlando Pride, the league’s tenth team to join the league will be allowed to select up to 10 players through the draft.
Current NWSL teams were able to protect nine players (playoff teams) or 10 players (non-playoff teams) on their rosters. In this case, Seattle Reign, Chicago Red Stars, FC Kansas City, and the Washington Spirit were allowed to protect nine players; the rest of the clubs were allowed to protect 10 players.
Each team was able to protect up to two U.S. allocated players. Orlando will not be able to select more than two U.S. allocated players. Once Orlando selects a U.S.-allocated player from a team, it cannot take any more players from that team.
The expansion list was released after earlier trades were announced. For a full rundown of trades, see OGM’s Trade Tracker.
