U20s Rolls On In La Manga With 2-0 Victory Over Netherlands

The USA U-20s came away with a 2-0 win in their second match in La Manga, Spain, this time against the Netherlands.

As in the last match (against Norway) the goals came at the end of each half, but this time from two different players. Midfielder Mikaela Harvey scored the first just before the half-time whistle, assisted by Emily Ogle; fellow midfielder Jordan Harr tallied the second in the 80th minute, off a Megan Buckingham cross.

Mallory Pugh took the captain’s armband for this match. She played forward in the first match, but as captain may have taken more of a midfield play-making role in this one (we’ll know more when the highlights and full game are available.)

With two matches played in the tournament, every player on the US roster except one has gotten at least 45 minutes of play (the one outsider is the back-up goalkeeper Samantha Leshnak).  Three players have played the full 180 minutes so far: goalkeeper Casey Murphy, centerback Natalie Jacobs, and forward Mallory Pugh. 11 players have played in both matches, another 10 in just one each. Notably, the player with the fewest total minutes so far (aside from Leshnak) at just 22 is Jordan Harr, who scored in this match, 10 minutes into her time on the field.

The US will next face Sweden on Monday, March 9th.
