Tony Gustavsson Returns as USWNT Assistant Head Coach

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]ony Gustavsson has been named full-time assistant coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team by Head Coach Jill Ellis. Gustavsson will join the team for friendlies against France on June 14 and June 19.

Gustavsson was an assistant under former USWNT Head Coach Pia Sundhage in 2012, helping to guide the team to a gold medal in the the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. After his stint with the USWNT, Gustavsson was named head coach of Tyresö in Sweden’s top women’s league, the Damallsvenskan. Tyresö won the league title in 2012 and qualified for the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Gustavsson led Tyresö to the 2013 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final, but would finish runners-up to back-to-back champion Wolfsburg.
