US Soccer will hold a one-week camp for the U-20s in Chula Vista, CA, from May 11th to the 18th. It will be concurrent with a U-18 camp. [column size=one_half position=first]
DEFENDERS (8): Brittany Basinger (Penn State; Purcellville, Va.), Christina Gibbons (Duke; Raleigh, N.C.), Laura Liedle (Stanford; San Diego, Calif.), Karlie Mueller (Texas A&M; Sioux Falls, S.D.), Katie Naughton (Notre Dame; Elk Grove Village, Ill.), Morgan Reid (CASL; Cary, N.C.), Kaleigh Riehl (BRYC; Fairfax Station, Va.), Cari Roccaro (Notre Dame; East Islip, N.Y.)
MIDFIELDERS (9): Stephanie Amack (Stanford; Pleasanton, Calif.), Morgan Andrews (Notre Dame; Milford, N.H.), Carlyn Baldwin (BRYC; Oakton, Va.), Joanna Boyles (North Carolina; Raleigh, N.C.), Cameron Castleberry (North Carolina; Raleigh, N.C.), Rachel Hill (UConn; Rollinsford, N.H.), Rose Lavelle (Wisconsin; Cincinnati, Ohio), Mallory Pugh (Real Colorado; Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Andi Sullivan (Bethesda SC; Lorton, Va.)
FORWARDS (7): Makenzy Doniak (Virginia; Chino Hills, Calif.), Summer Green (North Carolina; Milford, Mich.), Savannah Jordan (Florida; Fayetteville, Ga.), Kodi Lavrusky (UCLA; Yucaipa, Calif.), McKenzie Meehan (Boston College; Scituate, R.I.), Toni Payne (Duke; Birmingham, Ala.), Margaret Purce (Harvard; Silver Spring, Md.)
Mallory Pugh seems to have stuck with the U-20s after the U-17s failed to qualify for this year’s U-17 Women’s World Cup. She is by far the youngest of the group, as she turns 16 today.
New to the U-20s are Kodi Lavrusky, who made a name for herself by scoring the game-winning goal in the NCAA College Cup final, and Morgan Reid, who was with the U-17s from 2011, but hasn’t been on a youth national team roster since the U-17 World Cup in August 2012.
Joanna Boyles, like Reid, was a regular with the 2012 U-17s through the WWC, but only made one roster with the U-20s last year; this is her second camp with the older group. Cameron Castleberry was a semi-regular U-17 in 2011-12, but didn’t make the WWC squad then; this is now her second camp with the U-20s, after one last July. Defender Karlie Mueller was in two U-20 camps last year and is now back.
Carlyn Baldwin and Kaleigh Riehl are back after their first camp appearances last month. Both were regulars with the U-18s last year and early this year. They are still in high school and are the two youngest on the roster after Pugh.
And Stephanie Amack is back after missing the last camp due to illness.
Continuing her attendance streak, Andi Sullivan will be in her 12th U-20 camp since early 2013. Close behind with their 11th camps each, are Cari Roccaro, Katie Naughton and Rose Lavelle.
Lindsey Horan was not released by her professional club PSG (again); she would be in camp otherwise.
Defender Maddie Bauer will miss her first U-20 camp since December of 2013.
Forward Darian Jenkins – who was a regular with the team in 2013 but was dropped from the WCQ squad – did not make either this roster or the U-18 roster; she was in a U-18 camp in March and a U-20 camp in April. USSF did not mention her, but she may be dealing with an injury or have college-related duties.
The U-20s will next travel to France in June to play their U-20s in two matches (Horan will presumably be in that roster).
