Wins by Spain, Sweden, and Canada put them all in position for the final, making the final group-stage games crucial.
Japan 2–0 Iceland
Yui Hasegawa scored in the 11th and 15th minutes to give Japan its first win in the tournament.
Australia 3–2 Netherlands
A tale of two halves. A brace from Emily van Egmond and an Alanna Kennedy goal all in the first half had the Aussies up comfortably at the break. The Netherlands made it more than interesting in the second half with goals from Vivianne Miedema in the 75th and Sherida Spitse in the 79th. Australia held on, however.
Spain 3–0 Norway
Spain proved Wednesday’s opening win was no joke and have more than few Euro 2017 prognosticators giving them a second look for the upcoming tournament. This match started with an own goal from Maria Thorisdottir in the 25th minute. Jennifer Hermoso added another in the 38th minute and Olga Garcia sealed it in the 41st minute to make it 3-0.
Russia 1–2 Canada
Sophie Schmidt put Canada on the board first in the 10th minute and Christine Sinclair added another in the 26th minute. Russia pulled one back in the 58th minute on a Daria Makarenko goal.
China PR 0–0 Sweden
The Rio 2016 Group E frenemies battled to a scoreless draw.
Portugal 0–6 Denmark
It was a tough one for the hosts. Denmark simply outmatched Portugal, with braces from Stine Larsen (1′, 32′) and Sanne Troelsgaard (25′, 68′). Line Sigvardsen Jensen (9′) and Katrine Veje (58′) added to the tally.
