In the first of two matches they will play against their French counterparts, the U-20s won in Plabennec, France on a goal from forward Savannah Jordan in the 29th min, on a long throw-in from Rose Lavelle. Jordan now has 6 goals in this U-20 cycle, after scoring a goal in each of the five matches of World Cup Qualifying; she’s now tied with McKenzie Meehan for second place on the team in goals scored, behind Lindsey Horan, who has 9. Lavelle now has 3 assists for the U-20s.
Makenzy Doniak played 67 minutes before making way for McKenzie Meehan; this was Doniak’s first minutes back with the U-20s since leaving the first match of World Cup Qualifying in January with a hand injury.
Cari Roccaro continues her playing streak; she has played every minute of all 15 matches that the 2014 U-20s have played to date, for a total of 1,350 minutes. (Katie Naughton has also played every match, but has subbed in or out of a number of them.)
Lindsey Horan, who recently finished her second season with professional club PSG in Paris, did not play.
The two teams will meet again on the 13th in Plougastel, France.
