U.S. U20s heading to Spain for tournament in La Manga

Following a training camp that ran through Feb. 20 in Chula Vista, Calif., the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team will head to Spain to play in La Manga against U-20 teams from Norway, Sweden, and England. The four-team tournament runs from March 4-March 8.

Of the 24 players U.S. U-20 Head Coach Dave Chesler brought to California for the camp, 14 will head to La Manga. An additional four players who have previously trained with the U-20s, including Notre Dame’s Mandy Laddish, will also play in the tournament. The other three players joining the team have yet to be announced. The U.S. U20s, who trained from Feb. 13-Feb. 20 in California, ended their trip by beating the University of San Diego, holding the Toreros scoreless.

The 14 players from the California camp that will head to La Manga are:

Keepers: Emily Oliver (Stanford), Abby Smith (Dallas Texans)

Defenders: Abby Dahlkemper (MVLA Avalanche/UCLA), Kasey Kallman (Florida State), Ariana Martinez (UCLA)

Midfielders: Morgan Brian (Ponte Vedra Storm/Virginia), Michelle Cruz (Portland), Lindsay Elston (Washington), Julie Johnston (Santa Clara), Sarah Killion (Fort Wayne Fever/UCLA), Samantha Mewis (Scorpions SC/UCLA)

Forwards: Kelly Cobb (Inlet Velocity/Duke), Arin Gilliland (Lexington Football Club/Kentucky), Mollie Pathman (Duke), Katie Stengel (Wake Forest)
