WPSL’s New York Athletic Club keeper Tatiana Saunders earns honor from Gatorade

Gatorade recently unveiled its state players of the year for girls’ soccer, and Tatiana Saunders, who played in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) for New York Athletic Club, was named the New York High School Gatorade Player of the Year. The national Gatorade Player of the Year will be announced May 23.

Saunders, who plays for Montclair SC and Rye High School, started seven games last summer for New York Athletic Club. She went 4-2-1 and finished with a 1.00 GAA. She also helped NYAC win the U.S. Women’s Open Cup, beating Dallas Premier, 2-0, in the finals.

In addition to her success at the high school, club, and WPSL levels, Saunders is the starting keeper for England’s U-19 team, a team that she helped qualify for the European Championships. Saunders will play for Dartmouth College this fall.
