Portland Thorns FC have acquired goalkeeper Adrianna Franch from the Orlando Pride in exchange for Steph Catley the club announced today.

The Pride also send the No. 21 overall pick in the 2016 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft to the Thorns.

“It has been a priority to head into 2016 with two top goalkeepers,” said Thorns FC head coach Mark Parsons. “Adrianna is a great addition on and off the field and I am very excited we have been successful in bringing her to Portland. She is a commanding goalkeeper with great distribution and superb work ethic.”

Franch most recently featured for Avaldsnes IL of Norway’s Toppserien, where she made 15 appearances for the club. She was originally drafted by the Western New York Flash in the 2013 College Draft, helping the Flash to a spot in the championship match, which it lost, 0-2, to Portland. In 2014, Franch missed the entire season after tearing her right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

In college, Franch played at Oklahoma State University, where she was a two-time All-American and two-time MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.

At the youth level, Franch represented the United States on the U-20 and U-23 teams. She was called into the senior national camp in 2012 and 2013.
