The race for the Frauen-Bundesliga title came down to the last match day of the season as Wolfsburg hosted Frankfurt in a winner-take-all final on June 8, 2014. Verena Faisst opened up scoring in the 16th minute for Wolfsburg. Frankfurt’s Kozue Ando equalized in the 82nd but Alexandra Popp’s goal in the 89th minute was the game-winner. With the win, Wolfsburg added a second straight league title to its trophy case. On May 22, 2014, the club defeated Tyresö, 4-3, to retain the UEFA Women’s Champions League title.
